Council meetings are held in the council chambers on the 1st floor in city hall.  The council meets twice monthly, on the first and third Mondays.  Caucus begins at 6:30pm, the business meeting begins at 6:45pm.   If the meeting Monday falls on a federal holiday, the meeting is on the Tuesday following.

The public is welcome to speak at a council meeting, but registration is required.  A sign in sheet is available at the entrance to the council chambers on meeting nights.  The sign in sheet is removed at the beginning of the business meeting at 6:45.  Public comments are at the end of the meeting after the business has been conducted by the mayor and council.  Each speaker is allowed 2 minutes.  When the mayor calls your name, come to the podium, say your name and address and continue with your comments.

Please remember: citizens wishing to present matters to the Council must sign their name, topic and phone number on the sign in sheet no later than 6:45 p.m. on the evening of the meeting. 

What can I do at city hall?

Residents can purchase yard sale permits, $10.00 for 2 days. Purchase trash and recycle bins, $75.00 each.  Reserve the Heritage, rental hall, Rental Contract, during business hours.  Notary services are available, $5.00 each document, at this time we do not notarize car titles.  City taxes can be paid in person or over the phone.  Code enforcement citations can be paid in person or over the phone.  Register to do business in Shively and pay business taxes.  Apply for a Alcoholic Beverage Control, ABC, license.  Attend monthly council meetings.
