Recycling & Yard Waste Schedule
- Recycling: Picked up citywide on Mondays, weekly.
- Yard Waste: Picked up citywide on Tuesdays, weekly (March – December).

Solid Waste Regulations
- Only totes labeled City of Shively will be collected on trash day.
- No trash outside the trash can will be collected.
- Trash cans must close tightly; overflowing cans may be left unemptied.
- Additional cans are available for $75.00 each (call (502) 449-5000 to purchase).
- Place waste at the curb no later than 6:30 AM on collection day, but no earlier than 24 hours before.
- Blocked containers will not be emptied; automated trucks must have clear access.
- No trash should be placed in green recycle totes.
Large Item Collection (Bulky Items)
- Collection occurs once per month.
- Limit of three items per pickup.
- Items must not be set out earlier than the night before collection day.
- Accepted Items: Desks, chairs, couches, loveseats, appliances, etc.
- Bags or boxes of small items will count as one large item.
- Non-Accepted Items:
- Leaves, grass clippings, tree debris (use yard waste service or take to 636 Meriwether Ave.)
- Excessive building materials (take to 636 Meriwether Ave., fees apply)
- Paint, tires, household hazardous items (take to Haz Bin, 7501 Grade Lane)
- Small loose items, items from other properties
Yard Waste Collection Guidelines
- Offered: March – December, citywide on Tuesdays.
- Acceptable Items:
- Paper or eco-friendly bags of leaves
- Cans with tight-fitting lids for leaves
- Bundled branches (no larger than 6 inches in diameter, 4 feet long or less)
- Limbs in cans (must not extend more than 1 foot above the can top)
- Non-Acceptable Items:
- Plastic bags of any size or shape
- Items over 50 pounds
