Telecommunications Officer (Dispatcher) Opening
The Shively Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time telecommunications officer (Dispatcher). The shifts and hours may vary and could include weekends, nights and holidays. The starting pay for a certified telecommunications officer is $18.75 per hour, following the initial starting salary, the position falls into the collective bargaining pay scale. If you are not certified, you will be expected to attend the Department of Criminal Justice Training Telecommunications Academy located in Richmond, Ky. After graduating from their 4-week academy training, he or she will fall into the pay scale as a certified Telecommunications Officer (TCO).
The TCO will be expected to answer calls for service, 911 calls, dispatch officers, deal with the public on the telephone and in person, interact with police officers, etc.
The applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, good communication skills, be able to multi-task, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, not be convicted of a felony, misdemeanors will be considered on an individual basis.

You must turn in a copy of your driver’s license, high school diploma or its equivalent, copy of your social security card, copy of DD214 if you have had prior military along with your completed application. If you have already turned in an application, there is no need to repeat the process, your previous application will remain of file for this hiring process.
